What is a learning management system (LMS)?

An LMS is software that lets organisations organise, manage and monitor learning processes. That includes course creation, content delivery, user account management, tracking of learning progress, tests and reporting.

A good LMS covers the entire learning process (onboarding, mandatory training, voluntary professional development) and slots into your existing IT landscape.

FAQ

What is a learning management system (LMS)?
An LMS is software that lets organisations organise, manage and monitor learning processes. That includes course creation, content delivery, managing user accounts and roles, tracking learning progress, tests, certificates and reporting. A good LMS covers the entire learning process, from onboarding through mandatory training to voluntary professional development.
Which LMS is right for my company?
That depends on company size, desired features, your existing IT landscape and compliance requirements. Totara shines in larger organisations with mandatory training, certifications and complex role models. AskDelphi integrates learning content directly into everyday work, ideal when employees should be able to pull up knowledge “on the job”. In a consultation we’ll work out together which system fits your goals.
Can existing learning content be migrated?
Yes. We analyse your existing materials (SCORM packages, videos, PDFs, quiz data, participant lists) and transfer them into the new system in a structured way, including learning progress and certificates where technically possible. Neither learning history nor earned qualifications are lost.
How long does the rollout take?
A standard implementation with custom branding and a manageable course portfolio is typically delivered in 8 to 16 weeks. For deeper customisation (custom modules, interfaces to HR/identity systems, multilingual catalogues) we realistically plan three to six months. Before the project starts we pin down the exact timeframe in a solid effort estimate.
Do you also handle maintenance and further development after go-live?
Yes. Through our Continuous Support package we take over hosting, updates, security monitoring and further development of the platform: new modules, new courses, workflow adjustments. Your LMS stays current, fast and GDPR-compliant in the long run.
